Adewale Ayuba hangs out with the sons of late Dr. Ayinde Barrister.

The fuji maestro was paid a courtesy visit at his office today as he shared on his @officialayuba Instagram account. I remember listening to Barrister’s songs when I was very little. I wonder if a tribute concert can hold for him, I’d like to see how many of these new stars of this generation grew up influenced by his music. #afrikmouth

Oh oh!!! 😮😱😮Did Rooney just ‘slap’ a wrestler in a WWE skit

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney stole the show at a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) event by ‘slapping’ a wrestler who goaded him at ringside.

Rooney has come under fire over a shortage of goals this season, but he showed that he could still find the target after being challenged by Wade Barrett during the ‘Raw’ show at Manchester Arena on Monday.

Spotting Rooney in the front row with his six-year-old son, Kai, Englishman Barrett told him: “I don’t like the way you’re looking at me, Wayne. You’re looking at me like you’ve got some kind of problem with me.”

After threatening to knock Rooney out, Barrett prodded him in the chest, only for the England skipper to react with a right-hand slap that sent the giant wrestler tumbling theatrically to the floor.

New LASTMA boss promises reform in three months

THE new appointed Chairman of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Christian Olakpe, has assured Lagosians of a new LASTMA in the next three-months.

Olakpe said though he would not be loved by his actions, but the reform would invigorate the agency for optimal performance and improved traffic flow.

The retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), while addressing members of the Lagos State House of Assembly at Monday plenary, said he knows the state inside out and not unaware of policies that would make it work.

He said that under his watch, there would be no waivers in the enforcement of traffic laws, adding that he had even warned his friends and relatives not to call him over any erring motorist.

He said further: “I am an advocate of reward for good work and punishment for evil work. I can dismiss any officer on the spot and we are going to revive LASTMA within a short period of time. We will give the authority the impetus it needs.
“Once you are dismissed, your name would be published in the press and in our gazette. There would be reduction of ranks of offending officers. I will warn my men seriously and I will visit the Provost Marshall of the Nigerian Army for his support and any military man that beats a LASTMA official would be dealt with.
“I have friends in the Nigerian Army and the Police as a former police spokesman. We also plan to go to Ajah to do a participatory observation of what is going on there,” he said.

Around the world – Tanzania’s new president restricts foreign travel for officials, cuts tax exemptions

Tanzania’s new President John Magufuli, on Tuesday ordered restrictions on foreign travel by government officials and cuts in tax exemptions, signalling the potential start of fiscal belt-tightening measures by his government.

A statement from the president’s office said that “the president had put a halt to all foreign trips by government officials with immediate effect.

“If there is an urgent need for foreign travel by a public official, approval must be granted by the president himself or the Head of Civil Service.’’

The directive is against the backdrop of abuse of public funds by some officials reputed for making frequent foreign trips and flying in first or business class at taxpayers’ expense in a country that is one of the biggest per-capita aid recipients in Africa.
The statement said Magufuli, 56, had instead, ordered government officials to visit villages and other rural parts of Tanzania to address “grievances and problems of the people’’.

The belt-tightening measures are aimed at raising money to finance the government’s plan of providing primary and secondary education to all Tanzanian children free of charge from January next year, the statement said.

“The president has also instructed the Tanzania Revenue Authority to step up revenue collection from large tax payers and curb tax evasion without fear or favour,’’ it said.
