Court of Appeal nullifies AkwaIbom governor’s election

The appellate court held that evidence from all the parties showed that there was no collation during theĀ governorship election and as such election could not have been held under that circumstance.

The court said there was no substantial compliance with the Electoral Act 2010 by the INEC in the conduct of the election, a situation they it said entitled the Governorship Election Tribunal to nullify the entire election in the state.

Meet the beautiful mother of 4 who wants to be Somalia’s first female President in 2016

Fadumo Dayib announced her bid to run for President of Somalia last year which will be held in 2016. The 42-year-old mother of four was born to illiterate Somali parents. She spent 12 years as a healthcare and development specialist with organizations such as the European Union and United Nations. Dayib is a doctoral candidate at the University of Helsinki and fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and she’s getting a lot of support. Arms deal scandal – Jonathan Ordered Me To Make All The Approvals says Sambo Dasuki

The embattled former national security adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki has indicted the former president Goodluck Jonathan in the $2 billion arms deal scandal which he, Dasuki, is presently embroiled in.

The Nation reports that Dasuki, who may be arraigned before an Abuja high court on Monday, December 14, 2015, confessed to having handed over the N10 billion given to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination convention delegates to Jonathanā€™s special assistant on domestic affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa and the aide-de-camp.

he former NSA said the money was given out by the two aides on the directive of Dr Jonathan and that he had nothing to do with it aside from collecting the cash.

Dasuki, protested against the ā€˜media trialā€™ he is being subjected to by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), arguing that such treatment might jeopardise his defence even as he expressed regrets that he is being put in the open by the EFCC for acting on the instructions of Jonathan, the former commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s wealthiest business men is the latest to criticize Donald Trump for his call for a ban on Muslims entering the US. The prince took to twitter yesterday to describe the Republican front-runner for US presidential election as “a disgrace to America”.

Saudi woman wins seat in historic vote in Mecca

A Saudi woman has won a seat on Mecca’s municipal council in ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia’s first elections open to female voters and candidates, the country’s election commission says.

Salma bint Hizab al-Oteibi was elected to the council of Madrakah, a region in the holy city of Mecca, the official SPA news agency reported on Sunday, citing election commission president Osama al-Bar.

She was running against seven men and two women, he added.

The Gambia becomes an Islamic Republic – President Yahya Jammeh

President Yahya Jammeh has declared The Gambia “an Islamic state”, but stressed that the rights of the Christian minority in the small west African country would be respected and that women would not be held to a dress code.

The announcement came as the president addressed supporters in the coastal town of Brufut on Thursday, and the comments were later broadcast on state television and repeated on his website.

“Gambia’s destiny is in the hands of the Almighty Allah. As from today, Gambia is an Islamic state. We will be an Islamic state that will respect the rights of the citizens,” he was quoted as saying on the presidential website.

In television footage of the address on GRTV, seen by AFP on Saturday, the president did not go into detail about what the change would mean for the country, but he reassured Christians and followers of other faiths they would be able to worship freely.

President Muhammadu Buhari bags doctorate degree at the Kaduna State University

Interesting one, President Buhari was conferred a Honorary Doctorate degree of Letters by the the Kaduna State Universityā€Ž during the school’s convocation ceremony holding today Dec. 12. Now all thanks to social media there’s now a proof evidence of this taking place, should he loose this certificate in the future the Internet would produce proof without being asked twice.
