Mother Theresa to be named Roman Catholic Saint, says Vatican

Mother Teresa, who died in 1997 at the age of 87, is expected to be canonized in early September.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the Nobel laureate who dedicated her life to helping the poorest of the poor, will be made a saint of the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican said on Friday.

Pope Francis has cleared the way for her sainthood by approving a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to her intercession with God.

Mother Teresa, who died in 1997 at the age of 87, was beatified in 2003 by the late Pope John Paul. Beatification, which requires one miracle, is the last step before sainthood.

The second miracle attributed to the intercession of Mother Teresa, which is required for canonisation, involved the inexplicable healing of a Brazilian man who was suffering from a multiple brain tumors, according to Catholic media reports.

Fun Facts – How is bullet-proof glass made?

It might be better to call it ā€˜bullet-resistantā€™ glass, because it resists penetration, although a series of bullets fired at the same place will eventually break through. It is usually made by sandwiching a layer of deformable polycarbonate plastic between glass layers. The bulletā€™s impact shatters the outer layer of glass, spreading the energy over a wide area so the plastic layer ā€˜givesā€™, but does not rupture.

Is this the true face of Jesus? Scientists use forensics to discover what Christ may have looked like

The resulting face is a far cry from the tall, Caucasian man with light blonde hair that is usually shown in bibles and stained glass windows throughout the world

A forensic expert has recreated the face of Jesus Christ using state-of-the art science.

The resulting face is a far cry from the tall, Caucasian man with light blonde hair that is usually show in bibles and stained glass windows throughout the world.

The features of the ‘real’ Jesus are typical of Middle Eastern Jews in the Galilee area of northern Israel.

The striking image was created by Richard Neave, a retired medical artist from the University of Manchester, who used forensic anthropology usually used to solve crimes to build the portrait.

As the co-author of Making Faces: Using Forensic And Archaeological Evidence, Neave has reconstructed dozens of famous faces, including Philip II of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the Great, and King Midas of Phrygia.

He used the fact that before the Crucifixion, Judas Iscariot had to tell the soldiers who Jesus was because they could not tell him apart from his disciples.

Fun Facts – What is OK shortened for?

The most popular theory is that OK comes from ā€˜oll korrectā€™, a deliberately misspelled writing of ā€˜all correctā€™. It was popularised in Boston newspapers around the 1840s when it was fashionable to go around spelling things incorrectly for humorous effect. Legend also has it that New York Democrats later adopted the abbreviation to promote their candidate Martin Van Buren ā€“ the initials ā€˜OKā€™ were derived from his nickname, Old Kinderhook.

See video of Tiger and goat forge unlikely friendship in Russian zoo

A goat sent to a Russian safari park as live prey for a Siberian tiger has instead befriended the big cat and the two have become inseparable in a story that has captivated Russians.

Amur the tiger and Timur the goat now sleep in the same enclosure in the Primorsky safari park outside the Pacific port city of Vladivostok, and the pair eat and play together in the snow and this week even head-butted each other for fun.

The story of the unusual friendship has touched hearts in Russia with the safari park releasing regular updates on the pair and planning to install webcams in their enclosure.

Staff at the park say the male tiger, who has been given live animals to hunt and eat twice a week for three years, did not touch the billy goat when it entered the enclosure last month because the goat did not show any fear.
